Additional funding for the Milpitas library’s remaining 24 hours comes from a special tax approved by voters in 2004 and renewed in 2013, which provides $836,819 in staffing dollars. Stephen Fitzgerald, Milpitas’ community librarian, previously told the Post that the additional funding will pay for two full-time positions, one library assistant and one full-time clerk, and three half-time positions, two half-time librarians and one half-time clerk, to support the longer hours.
