A musical collective representing the countries traversed by the world’s longest river, The Nile Project arrives in the Bay Area next week for a series of concerts, workshops and discussions presented by Stanford Live and Cal Performances, with performances at Bing Concert Hall on Feb. 18 and Zellerbach Hall on Feb. 19. With a stripped-down lineup of 13 musicians from seven countries, The Nile Project ensemble is on its first North American tour. The artists have created a repertoire of tunes blending traditional styles and instruments during a series of gatherings in Aswan, Egypt; Kampala, Uganda; and most recently last November in Hermopolis, Egypt.
